Our Team Enviroment
About

Cheam Midwifery is structured as a Team Enviroment. Your team of midwives will consist of either two or three midwives, never more than that. Throughout your pregnancy you will get a chance to meet each midwife on your team.

My journey into midwifery began with my pregnancy and birth of my first daughter, Desiree, in October 1995. I was a young teenage mother and I didn't know anything about pregnancy or childbirth. However, everything I experience during my pregnancy left me feeling amazed and inspired.
I gave birth to my second daughter, Kyla, in December 1999 and my third daughter, Brianna, in July 2002. Shortly after Brianna's birth I became involved with the breastfeeding support group La Leche League (LLL) and became a certified LLL leader in 2003.
In 2004, I became a certified DONA Doula and began volunteering with a Doula Group supporting teen mothers who would have otherwise been alone for their births.
In 2005, I started training at McMaster University in the Midwifery Education Program. I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery and started working as a Registered Midwife in Ontario.
In 2010, my family and I moved across the country to Abbotsford, BC. In 2011, I opened Chilliwack's first Midwifery practice, Cheam Midwifery.
I continue to be passionate and in awe of everything related to the childbearing years of a woman's life. I am so fortunate to work in a profession that inspires me everyday. It is a great honour to walk along side women at such a pivotal point in their lives.
When I am not catching babies you can find me hanging out with my hubby, James, and our three daughters. We love to spend time together snowboarding, wake boarding, water skiing and hiking. I also practice yoga daily.
